Medically Supervised Inpatient Detoxification

Detox - Medically Supervised Inpatient Detoxification
Detoxification is the first stage of addiction treatment, aimed at safely stabilising the patient's condition during withdrawal from psychoactive substances or medications. At Zeus Detox & Rehab, detox is conducted in an inpatient setting under round-the-clock medical supervision, with individual clinical risk assessment.
Zeus Detox & Rehab is located near Warsaw, Poland, and provides inpatient detoxification for both domestic and international patients. Our clinical team communicates in multiple languages and supports patients from across Europe and beyond throughout the entire treatment process.
What is detox in clinical terms
Detoxification is a medical process directed at supporting the body during withdrawal from addictive substances and reducing the risk of complications associated with the abstinence syndrome. Depending on the substance involved, the duration of use and the patient's state of health, withdrawal symptoms can vary in severity and require continuous monitoring.
Detox is not treatment for addiction as such, but a preparatory stage that readies the patient for further therapeutic intervention where this is indicated.
Why detox requires medical supervision
Abrupt withdrawal from alcohol, drugs or certain medications can produce symptoms that pose a risk to health and, in extreme cases, to life. Detoxification conducted in an inpatient setting enables clinical risk assessment before detox begins, continuous monitoring of the patient's physical and mental state, prompt response to complications of the abstinence syndrome, stabilisation of vital signs, and safe planning of subsequent stages of treatment.
Types of detox available at Zeus Detox & Rehab
Detoxification is carried out in an individualised manner, tailored to the type of substance and the patient's clinical needs. As part of our broader addiction treatment services, we offer three specialist detox programmes:
Detoxification for individuals dependent on alcohol, focused on safe progression through the abstinence syndrome and stabilisation of health.
Detoxification following use of psychoactive substances such as opioids, stimulants and other drugs, conducted under continuous medical supervision.
Detoxification associated with dependence on prescription medications, including benzodiazepines, opioids and sleep aids, based on gradual tapering and symptom management.
How inpatient detox works
Detoxification removes physical dependence but does not eliminate the psychological and behavioural mechanisms of addiction. In many cases, following the completion of detox, continued treatment in the form of addiction therapy or treatment of co-occurring psychiatric disorders is recommended. The plan for further management is established individually on the basis of clinical assessment.
Who detox is intended for
Inpatient detox is intended for individuals presenting with symptoms of the abstinence syndrome, patients requiring medical stabilisation, and those being prepared for continued addiction treatment.
When detox is not sufficient on its own
Detox alone is not sufficient as the sole form of addiction treatment, or without further diagnostics and therapy where these are indicated.
Detoxification as a stage of treatment
Detoxification constitutes the first stage of the recovery process and requires follow-up as part of addiction treatment, conducted in a continuous and clinically consistent manner.
