Trauma-Related Disorder Treatment - Inpatient Programme

Trauma-Related Disorder Treatment - Inpatient Programme
Confidential inpatient treatment of trauma-related disorders provided in clinical conditions under continuous psychiatric and psychotherapeutic supervision. Therapy is directed at stabilisation of the nervous system, reduction of post-traumatic symptoms and safe processing of traumatic experiences.
What are trauma-related disorders
Trauma-related disorders are a group of psychiatric conditions developing in the aftermath of experiences that exceed the adaptive capacity of the psyche, such as violence, accidents, sudden threat to life, prolonged stress exposure, neglect or relational trauma. Not every trauma leads to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Many individuals experience entrenched post-traumatic symptoms that do not meet the full criteria for PTSD but significantly disrupt emotional, relational and professional functioning.
When urgent medical attention is required
Urgent medical attention is required if a psychological crisis arises involving suicidal ideation, intent to self-harm, loss of contact with reality, symptoms of acute psychosis, severe disorientation, rapid escalation of anxiety or agitation, aggressive behaviour disproportionate to the situation, or a state in which the patient is unable to ensure their own safety. In any life-threatening or health-threatening situation, emergency services should be contacted immediately by calling 112 or 999.
Post-traumatic disorders: clinical perspective
From a clinical perspective, trauma leads to persistent dysregulation of the nervous system, excessive stress reactivity, disruption of the integration of emotions and memory, and loss of psychological safety. Symptoms may persist for months or years, particularly when trauma was chronic, relational or developmental in nature.
Types of trauma-related disorders
Post-traumatic disorders may include post-traumatic reactions not meeting full PTSD criteria, adjustment disorders with traumatic basis, anxiety disorders secondary to trauma, post-traumatic depression, dissociative disorders, and complex post-traumatic reactions (cPTSD). Each case requires individual clinical assessment.

Trauma treatment at Zeus Detox & Rehab
Treatment is provided on an inpatient basis within the mental health treatment framework, in a safe and controlled clinical environment. The therapeutic process focuses on psychological stabilisation, not confronting the patient with trauma without adequate preparation. Care is delivered by a team of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists and psychotherapists working in a trauma-informed approach.
Integrated trauma treatment model
Treatment may include stabilisation of the nervous system, sleep and tension regulation, individual psychotherapy, safety- and resource-focused therapy, treatment of co-occurring psychiatric disorders, and gradual work on the traumatic experience. Pharmacotherapy is used only when clinically indicated.
Stage 1: Stabilisation
Restoration of a sense of safety, regulation of sleep and tension.
Stage 2: Trauma-focused therapy
Safe therapeutic work adapted to the patient's capacity.
Stage 3: Integration and aftercare planning
Preparation for functioning after the inpatient stay.
When inpatient trauma treatment is indicated
Inpatient treatment may be appropriate when post-traumatic symptoms are severe and entrenched, functional disorganisation is present, outpatient treatment is ineffective, insomnia and strong emotional dysregulation are present, or co-occurring addictions or mood disorders are present.
A different level of care is required when an acute psychotic state is present, when there is immediate danger to life, when closed hospitalisation is required, or when there is no consent to inpatient treatment. Every decision is preceded by individual clinical assessment.
