Burnout and Chronic Stress Treatment - Inpatient Programme

Burnout and Chronic Stress Treatment - Inpatient Programme
Confidential inpatient treatment of occupational burnout and chronic stress in clinical conditions under continuous psychiatric and psychotherapeutic supervision. Therapy is directed at psychological stabilisation, nervous system recovery and restoration of professional and personal functioning.
What are occupational burnout and chronic stress
Occupational burnout and chronic stress are psychological states resulting from prolonged emotional, cognitive and physiological overload without adequate periods of recovery. They are not a sign of weakness or lack of resilience, but a consequence of sustained activation of the stress system. Chronic stress leads to lasting changes in the functioning of the nervous, hormonal and immune systems. Occupational burnout is one of the possible clinical outcomes of this process and frequently requires specialist treatment.
When urgent medical attention is required
Urgent medical attention is required if a psychological crisis arises involving suicidal ideation, intent to self-harm, loss of contact with reality, symptoms of acute psychosis, severe disorientation, rapid escalation of anxiety or agitation, aggressive behaviour disproportionate to the situation, or a state in which the patient is unable to ensure their own safety. In any life-threatening or health-threatening situation, emergency services should be contacted immediately by calling 112 or 999.
Occupational burnout: clinical perspective
From a clinical perspective, occupational burnout comprises emotional and psychological exhaustion, loss of sense of meaning and agency, reduced stress tolerance, disturbances in concentration and decision-making, and gradual disorganisation of functioning. This condition may co-occur with anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, insomnia and addiction to sedatives, alcohol or stimulant substances.

When inpatient burnout treatment is indicated
Inpatient treatment may be appropriate for individuals with occupational burnout, chronic stress and insomnia, loss of adaptive capacities, ineffective outpatient therapy, or a need for temporary restorative isolation.
A different level of care is required in acute life-threatening states, psychosis requiring hospital treatment, or absence of consent to inpatient treatment. Every decision is preceded by individual clinical assessment.
