Alcohol detox with a home visit within Warsaw, carried out in person by a doctor, a specialist in internal medicine. Examination, intravenous fluids, medication chosen individually after an assessment of the patient’s condition, prescription and a sick note. Visits from 08:00 to 22:00; at night we admit patients at the clinic outside Warsaw.
This service is for someone who is in Warsaw or one of the neighbouring towns, not for someone reading from another country. The doctor also travels to Piaseczno, Legionowo, Otwock, Pruszków, Wołomin, Marki, Ząbki, Konstancin, Józefów and Grodzisk Mazowiecki, as well as to Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, Jabłonna, Czosnów and Ożarów Mazowiecki. What a home alcohol detox involves
The visit begins with an examination. The doctor assesses general condition, blood pressure, pulse and hydration, and asks how long the drinking has gone on, how much was drunk, about chronic illnesses and about medication the patient takes. Only on that basis is it decided which medication and which drip to give, in what volume, and how long the visit should last.
Detoxification usually covers intravenous rehydration, correction of electrolyte deficiencies, replacement of B vitamins including thiamine, and medication that eases withdrawal symptoms such as trembling hands, agitation, a racing pulse, nausea and insomnia. The scope is always individual, because the condition after a single episode of intoxication is entirely different from the condition after several days of drinking.
We do not use one ready-made set for everyone. A drip during detoxification is a medical procedure, not a product from a price list, and its composition is decided by the doctor after examining the patient.
Within the visit the doctor can also issue a prescription and a sick note, if the patient’s condition warrants it.
Detoxification and a hangover drip are not the same thing
Behind the phrase hangover drip sit two completely different situations, and it is those that decide whether a doctor is needed at all.
A single episode of alcohol intoxication, meaning an ordinary hangover after one heavy night, is mainly dehydration, headache, nausea and weakness. The symptoms pass on their own within a day, and a rehydration drip shortens that time, although it is rarely medically necessary.
Withdrawal after several days of drinking is something else entirely. It appears in someone who drank for several days in a row and then stopped. Trembling hands, drenching sweats, a racing pulse, severe agitation, insomnia, vomiting that makes it impossible to keep fluids down. Here the drip is not a convenience but a medical intervention, and untreated withdrawal can lead to seizures and delirium tremens.
That is why a drip for someone who drinks in episodes should always follow an examination and be given by a doctor. The choice of medication depends on how long the drinking lasted, on the measurements and on co-occurring conditions. With high blood pressure, diabetes or liver disease, the same combination that helps one person will be risky for another.
Our detoxification belongs to that second category. It is a doctor’s visit, not a procedure from a ready-made price list, and that is precisely why it is carried out by a doctor rather than by a nurse or paramedic without supervision.

The licence can be verified independently in the Central Register of Physicians kept by the Polish Chamber of Physicians and Dentists, by entering the licence number.
We publish these details deliberately. Detoxification is an intravenous procedure carried out in the patient’s home, often in a crisis, and there are providers on the market who do not disclose who actually turns up. The patient and the family have a right to know who enters the home and administers the medication.
When a home visit is enough and when the clinic is needed
Whether treatment at home is safe is decided by the doctor after examining the patient. Below is the line we apply in practice.
A home visit is appropriate when
- the drinking lasted a short time and withdrawal symptoms are moderate
- the patient is awake, responsive and cooperating
- there are no serious co-occurring conditions in an acute phase
- there is an adult at home who will stay with the patient after the visit
A clinic or hospital is required when
- there have been seizures or loss of consciousness
- there is confusion, hallucination, severe agitation or disorientation
- the patient has unstable heart disease, diabetes or liver cirrhosis
- the drinking lasted many days and earlier attempts to stop ended in complications
- the patient is alone and nobody can keep watch over the coming hours
Area, hours and travel
A doctor for home visits is available seven days a week, from 08:00 to 22:00, in Warsaw and in the neighbouring towns. The starting point is Warsaw, so the wait inside the city is short.

Detoxification in Piaseczno, Legionowo or Otwock costs the same as in Pruszków or Wołomin. We add no mileage charge and no weekend surcharge.
At night we do not make home visits. If the situation cannot wait until morning, we admit the patient at the clinic in Łomianki Dolne outside Warsaw, where medical care is available around the clock under a doctor’s supervision. In many cases that is safer than a home visit, because the patient stays under observation instead of being left alone once the medication has been given.
What a home alcohol detox costs
The price covers the journey, the medical examination, the medication and the drip, and the whole duration of the visit, however long the doctor has to stay with the patient. Where needed, the doctor issues a prescription and a sick note.
We charge nothing for the journey alone or for the telephone consultation beforehand. Nor do we bill separately for the number of drips or the length of the visit.
Payment is made in Polish zloty. The amounts in other currencies are given for orientation only, at the average rate of the National Bank of Poland, table 175/A/NBP/2026 of 09.09.2026.
How to arrange a visit
One phone call is enough. During the call we will ask how long the drinking has lasted, what medication the patient takes, about chronic conditions and about the current state, so that the doctor can prepare and judge whether treatment at home is safe in this case. The call is confidential and commits you to nothing. The telephone consultation is conducted in Polish and English.
Detoxification is a beginning, not a solution
The drip removes the symptoms, not the cause. If detoxification repeats every few weeks, it is no longer emergency help but a way of getting through the next episode, and the illness advances in the meantime.

After the home visit the doctor can say whether inpatient treatment is worth considering in this case, and help the family plan the next step.
Frequently asked questions
How does one arrange a detox?
Privately, a phone call is enough. No referral, queue or earlier records are needed. During the call we establish the patient’s condition and the time of the visit, and the doctor comes to the address given. The public route in Poland runs through a hospital emergency department or a ward for alcohol withdrawal, where the doctor on duty decides on admission.
What does a detox drip cost?
With us, 1200 zloty within Warsaw and 1500 zloty in the neighbouring towns. That is the price for the whole doctor’s visit: the journey, the examination, the medication and the drip, plus all the time the doctor has to spend with the patient. We do not bill the number of drips or the length of the visit separately.
Is a referral needed?
No. The visit is private and requires neither a referral nor earlier medical records.
Is free detoxification available in Poland?
Public detoxification within the Polish health insurance system is free for insured people and takes place on wards for alcohol withdrawal and in hospital emergency departments. An absolute condition for admission, however, is that the patient is sober: someone who still has alcohol in their body will not be admitted to a detoxification ward. Add to that limited places and waiting time. That is exactly why families often choose the private route, because the doctor comes to a patient who is not sober and decides on the spot after examining them.
How long does the visit last?
As long as the patient’s condition requires, usually from about an hour to a few hours. The doctor does not leave until the condition is judged stable, and the length of the visit does not affect the price.
Do you come out at night?
We make home visits until 22:00. At night we admit patients at the clinic in Łomianki Dolne, with medical care around the clock under a doctor’s supervision.
Will the doctor issue a sick note?
Yes, if the patient’s condition warrants it. The doctor also issues prescriptions.
Is the visit confidential?
Yes. All records are covered by medical confidentiality. We inform neither an employer, nor the family, nor any institution.
What if the patient will not accept help?
The doctor may not carry out the procedure without the consent of an adult, conscious person. In practice some patients agree after speaking with the doctor, despite an initial refusal. If the patient is unconscious or a danger to their own life or that of others, call 112.
Can one go straight back to work?
It depends on the condition. After several days of drinking the body usually needs a few days to recover, and withdrawal symptoms can last longer than a day. The doctor will assess that during the visit.
Do you travel outside Warsaw?
Yes. Most often to Piaseczno, Legionowo, Otwock, Pruszków, Wołomin, Marki, Ząbki, Konstancin, Józefów, Grodzisk Mazowiecki, Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, Jabłonna, Czosnów and Ożarów Mazowiecki. The price is the same in each of these towns and comes to 1500 zloty. If your town is not on the list, call and we will check whether the doctor is available that day.
